Windows XP Professional x64 Edition SP2

Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.5 Ghz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, ATI Radeon HD 4770 512MB, LG W2253 Monitor (1920x1080), ASUS P5QL-Pro, Lian Li Case

My mic works fine for Ventrillo, Steam (Normal and Overlay) and in any other HL2 game I've tried (e.g. Insurgency Mod) which is why it is so confusing as to why it doesn't work in NT. :?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -QYFK-0185

"Microphone input switches when launching a game "

drop this in your config.cfg and make it read only, should help a bit, although mine still cuts out occasionally from time to time. I'm fairly sure it's voice_scale related, and that I've not made my config read-only yet. Running win7 here build 7201.

Code: Select all
voice_forcemicrecord 0
voice_enable "1"
sv_voiceenable "1"
voice_scale "0.75"
voice_dsound "1"
voice_modenable "1"

Tried it and still nothing. :|

----------------------------------

Apparently my new system doesn't want my USB Logitech Microphone to work in Steam games. I've found that if I plug it into the normal mic jack (rather than the USB port) that I can get it to work. Rather annoying seeing I've gotten used to wearing the headset around my neck and using my speakers for sound. If I can find a way to boost the send volume this would still work as the issue now is that it sounds very quiet and like I'm "in a fishbowl" as one player put it. There is also a small delay play back. :(

Hopefully Value will add selectable input to HL2 games considering they have it in Steam or force the HL2 games to use whatever Steam has it set to.

Meh this is still happening for me and now I can't remember how I resolved it. Any further help out there?

[EDIT] Nevermind, fixed it although may have messed up my Vent settings. Using Win 7 Home Pre. so I just disabled something else.
