Nine Sisters Tournament Results

Postby Alone on Sun Nov 29, 2009 6:37 am

Sorry, too tired at the moment, but there will be full detailed description for each match later on. Also, I will be asking the teams if I can use their dem files to make a short movie with match highlights. Hence, movies will appear in the "links" section for those clans that gave me the greenlight.

+ European Division, November 28th +

NeoFragº Alpha vs. Dark Tyrants Empire
Image
Description
Rise was the first map played, through out which DTE's 5-man forces had to constantly combat the 6-man NeoFrag Team. Despite being additionally hampered by several high-ping players, DTE still managed to secure two wins (one of them a cap).

Sadly, on the 9th round of Rise one of DTE's best players disconnected, leaving the team with only 4 players. This forced DTE to surrender the second map; Three cheers for the team that managed to play under such harsh circumstances.

Canards in the Shell vs. All Starz Gamerz + Teddy Bear Attack
Image
Description
An amazing match between two almost equal teams. To highlight one moment; map: Shrine, Score: 8 - 4, with CPC in the lead (with two lieutenants). aSg'Tba pull an OUTSTANDING Cap, increasing the number of lieutenants on their team to 5 (from 1 if i recall correctly). An amazing gameplay moment that must have caused CPC to sweat a bit ;)

For the next time you do this, I really wish you will allow some freedom for the teams to schedule matches between themselves, at least give a few different time slots to choose from. We had a full team assembled for the original match date but after the switch, two of our best players could not play. Anyway, good luck to the remaining teams.

Indeed, it would be nice to have match at time when I could use my mic! :D
22:00 is a bad time (at least for me) cause neighbors nor rules of my apartment does not approve any noise after 22:00.

So some flexibility with time would be fine in here.

nanonymous probably has a Dolby Surround 7.1 and plays without headphones, which makes it sound like a WAR is going on in his bedroom =)

The reason there wasn't that much flexibility was that almost no one communicated their wishes to us. Aside from ECO and DTE (big thanks), no one so much as entered the #ninesisters irc channel, OR made use of pm's, OR, as a last resort, emailed us. We're not mind readers :( Thankfully, once the tournament got underway everyone began communicating via steam im, which is why we have our next match this monday instead of sunday etc. etc.

I can say that for Nine Sisters Deux, expect a lot more flexibility. Continue posting what you liked and didn't like so that we know what needs to be fixed next time we organize a tournament.

And we apologize to DTE once again. The team that participated the most in Nine Sisters got shafted terribly because of the schedule change. Unfair is an understatement here =P

Thanks for organising it guys, sorry for not turning up but I ended up being away for the weekend. If we can get the same turn out then another tourney would be good fun. Allowing clans to schedule matches would make it easier going on the players, though obviously its a lot more complicated to organise. I'd be happy to lend a hand in moaning at people in servers to get on IRC and talk to Alone and Agiel so stuff gets done.
